Cardboard box marble run
Cut, fold and tape a run that keeps a marble moving from the top of the box to the bottom.
Slopes, speed and a great deal of cheerful failure. This is engineering.
What you need
- A large cardboard box
- Cardboard tubes
- Sticky tape and scissors
- A marble or small ball
How to do it
- 1
Stand the box on its end so you have a tall back wall.
- 2
Tape a first ramp near the top with a gentle slope.
- 3
Test with the marble, then add the next ramp where the marble lands.
- 4
Keep going to the bottom, adding tubes, tunnels and a catch cup.
- 5
Time the run, then change one slope and see if you can make it slower.
