Map your walk from memory
Walk a familiar route, come home, and draw it from memory before checking against a real map.
Memory, direction and scale, all from one walk to the shop.
What you need
- Paper and pencil
- A familiar short walk
- A printed map or an atlas if you have one
How to do it
- 1
Walk the route slowly and say each turn out loud as you take it.
- 2
At home, draw the route from memory without any help.
- 3
Mark north, then add three landmarks in the right order.
- 4
Compare your map with a real one and circle what you missed.
- 5
Walk it again and check who was right.
