Roman mosaic from paper squares
Snip magazine pages into small squares and lay a Roman style mosaic panel.
Roman mosaics were made one small piece at a time. So is patience.
What you need
- Old magazines or coloured paper
- Scissors
- A sheet of card
- Glue stick
How to do it
- 1
Sort your paper into piles by colour.
- 2
Snip each page into squares roughly the size of a fingernail.
- 3
Draw a simple design on the card: a dog, a fish, a border of waves.
- 4
Glue the squares down one at a time, leaving thin gaps like real grout.
- 5
Stand back at the end and look at how the picture appears from a distance.
