Apple pip counting and printing
Halve an apple, count the pips, then use the cut half as a stamp to print a whole orchard.
Cut an apple across the middle and there is a star inside. Nobody forgets that once they have seen it.
What you need
- Two apples
- A blunt knife and an adult
- Paint on a saucer
- Paper
How to do it
- 1
Cut one apple the tall way and one across the middle and compare the insides.
- 2
Count the pips in each half and guess whether every apple has the same number.
- 3
Press the cut side into paint and stamp it firmly onto paper.
- 4
Print a row for each apple you tried and label them.
- 5
Cut open a third apple to test your guess about the pips.
