Leaf rubbing bunting
Rub wax crayons over collected leaves, cut out the shapes and peg them into a string of autumn bunting.
The veins of a leaf are a map of how water travels. A crayon and a sheet of paper make that map appear like magic.
What you need
- A handful of flat leaves
- Thin paper
- Wax crayons with the paper peeled off
- Scissors and string
How to do it
- 1
Collect eight or nine flat leaves, the drier the better.
- 2
Lay a leaf under the paper with the bumpy side facing up.
- 3
Rub the side of a crayon over the paper until the whole leaf appears.
- 4
Cut round each rubbing and thread them onto string.
- 5
Hang the bunting across a window and count how many different shapes you found.
